Marvel X-Men

Say it ain’t so!  Marvel has killed off Professor X, the comic book character who formed the band of mutants known as X-Men.  The September 18 issue of Avengers vs. X-Men saw the wheelchair-bound Charles Xavier killed by Cyclops, a member of the X-Men team.

Axel Alonso, editor-in-chief of Marvel Entertainment explained:

“When we first crafted ‘Avengers VS. X-Men,’ we didn’t set out to kill any characters, but as the story progressed it became obvious that this had to be the last stand of Charles Xavier.  Rest assured his death will reverberate across the Marvel Universe, leading into major launches like Uncanny Avengers and All-New X-Men this fall.”

The story’s conclusion will be presented in the October 3, 2012 issue.
