A video touting a new, redesigned MySpace has been discovered at new.myspace.com by the Financial Times (we’re sure they had some “help” stumbling onto the video). The video touts a slicker media-oriented interface flush with photos, video, and music. Think cross between Google+, Pinterest, Spotify and Windows 8 with lots of animation and of course, plenty of ties to the music industry. MySpace managers posted a note that says in part, “We’re staying true to our roots.”

It’s been four years since MySpace was the top social network on the planet. Can they make a comeback with a redesign? We think the odds are not too bad. It will be a rough road and powerhouses like Google+, Pinterest, and of course Facebook, are not going to lie down and let a competitor waltz right in without countering. Still, the interface looks very good, better than any of the before mentioned social networks. Kids just might jump on board with this.
