Asteroid 2007 PA8

On Monday, NASA released images of asteroid 2007 PA8 that were shot as the asteroid passed Earth on October 28, 29, and 30.  The one mile wide Asteroid 2007 PA8 5.6 passed Earth on November 5 at a distance of 4 million miles (about 17 times the distance between the Earth and Moon).  This is the closest 2007 PA8 will come to Earth for the next 200 years.  The radar images were shot using NASA’s 230-foot-wide (70-meter) Deep Space Network antenna at Goldstone, Calif.

Data indicates that the asteroid rotates (rolls) as it travels through space.
