New iPhone 5The folks over at iMore, who always seem to be in the know when it comes to the highly secretive Apple industry, have obtained details on the new iPhone 5 to be released next week.  According to iMore, the changes coming to the iPhone 5 are minimal at best.  To be announced on September 12, 2012 (and predicted to launch on September 21, 2012 as Verizon and AT&T employees have been told that vacations on that day is prohibited), the iPhone 5 will include a 4-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a metallic plate across most the back, and a miniaturized Dock connector and relocated 3.5mm headset jack along the bottom.

On February 23, 2012, iMore learned Apple would be miniaturizing the Dock connector for the iPhone 5. On March 23, iMore learned Apple would be including LTE networking in the iPhone 5, as they had the new iPad. On May 11, iMore learned Apple would be trying to remove Google from the iPhone and iOS. On May 29, 9to5Mac posted images of the new, unibody back casing for the iPhone 5. On July 29 and July 30, many of the leaked parts that had been floating around were assembled and shown off in stills and on video.

Other rumors are floating around that new, more comfortable ear phones will be introduced with the new device.  Also, new multitouch technology is expected in the iPhone 5, an addition that should help reduce the depth of the device.  Only minimum battery life improvement is predicted and the device will continue to be manufactured by Chinese Foxconn.  It should have a quad-core processor (Apple A6) and 1GB of RAM, 8MB camera in back and possibly a HD camera in front too.  Whether or not the new device contains a NFC chip is up in the air.
