Wendy's restaurant new logo - hidden subliminal message

Settle down conspiracists – nobody’s out to steal you away from Mom’s home-cooked meals. Wendy’s restaurants said on Monday that it had not purposely hidden a secret message in the shirt collar worn by their red-headed mascot.  Many had suspected that Wendy’s new logo, released last year, contained the word “Mom” in the ruffles on the red-headed girl’s shirt (see picture above).  It was surmised that Wendy’s intended to create an association between Wendy’s food and Mom’s good old-fashioned home-cooked meals.  Others thought the subliminal text was hinting that Wendy, who is actually Dave Thomas’ daughter at age 8, was now a mother.  Alas, there appears to be no hidden agenda here.

Wendy’s senior vice president of communications, Denny Lynch, told Huffington Post:

“We are aware of this and find it interesting that it appears our Wendy cameo has ‘mom’ on her ruffled collar. We can assure you it was unintentional.”

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s what the logo used to look like:
