Disney+ expects to premiere WandaVision in Spring 2021. Since it’s set in the MCU, it will share continuity with other films in the franchise.

WandaVision is set after the events of Avengers Endgame. It is rumored to have major repercussions on the MCU going forward. Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany will return as Vision. Whether Scarlet’s brother, Quicksilver, makes an appearance is unknown but we can expect lots of time travel or alternate dimension shenanigans. Olsen explained:

“We’re gonna get weird, we’re gonna go deep, we’re gonna have lots of surprises, and we’re gonna finally understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch”

Marvel says they will also include several WandaVision-themed comic collections to coincide with the new series. The new comics will be part of a comic event called Darkhold.

Marvel said,

“For hundreds of years, scholars and heroes alike have searched for the complete text of the Darkhold – A.K.A. the Book of the Damned, written by the elder god Chthon. Now one of the greatest sorcerers in the Multiverse has found it – and Chthon has found him. To save them all, the Scarlet Witch must gather the world’s greatest heroes… and unleash their inner darkness. Witness the Marvel Universe’s descent into chaos!”

We got our first glimpse of Scarlet Witch in the Captain America Winter Soldier’s post-credit sequence. She made a full appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Vision made his first appearance in the same movie. Digital Trends explains:

“Scarlet Witch and Vision have been associated with the Avengers for decades. The Scarlet Witch first appeared in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s X-Men No. 4 as a member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, alongside her brother, the super-speedster Quicksilver. Wanda is often depicted as Magneto’s daughter, although whether or not that’s officially canon changes fairly frequently. She joined the Avengers in issue No. 16, and has been a good guy (more or less) ever since.

Vision first appeared in Avengers No. 58, and was created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, and John Buscema. Originally, Vision was created by the Avengers’ mechanical nemesis, Ultron, as a weapon to use against the Avengers, but quickly switched sides. Wanda and Vision have been an on-again, off-again couple for years, and even had two children together, although the kids were ultimately revealed to be projections of the demon Mephisto.”
