Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1) is the sequel to the 2018 film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Producers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse include Avi Arad (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Phill Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Peter Ramsey acts as executive producer for the project.

Status

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was announced just months after the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hit theaters. Production began on June, 9, 2020 with post-production starting on December 5, 2021. It was originally scheduled to be released on April 7, 2022, but was delayed to October 8 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’: Miles Morales Meets More Spideys in New Trailer

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

New trailer showcases the various animation styles used in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

A highlight of the newest trailer is the six distinct animation styles used for the universe of each incarnation of Spider-Man. Sony Pictures has decided to push back the release date for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse.” Originally slated to release on October 7, 2022, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” will now be released on July 7, 2023, per a recent press release.

Sony today gave us our first look at the animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1). Yes, “Part One” was subtitled suggesting a second-part (or more Spider-Verse sequels) are coming our way.

The new footage picks up where the first “Spider-Verse” left off, showing Miles Morales relaxing on his bed, listening to Post Malone. Enter Gwen Stacy a.k.a. Spider-Gwen from an alternate dimension. They leave Morales’ bedroom and swing into footage of Spider-Man swinging through psychedelic scenes that bend the mind. We see Miles Morales transported to another universe where he comes into contact with Miguel O’hara (Spider-Man 2099).

The first “Spider-Verse” (Into the Spider-Verse) was a smash success for Sony, grossing $375.5 million worldwide and earning Sony Animation’s first Oscar win for best animated feature. It was a groundbreaking film that combined a unique animation style with traditional artwork.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) hits theaters Oct. 7, 2022.
