About the Uncharted movie.

Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. It is an adaptation of the video games of the same name created by Amy Hennig. The film stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor Sullivan, along with Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, and Antonio Banderas as a villain.

The film entered development in 2008, with film producer Avi Arad stating that he is working with a division of Sony Pictures to develop the film adaptation of Uncharted. However, the film entered in a complicated production, with directors, writers, and cast members coming and going as the project grew. It was later revealed the film would be an origin story, with Holland cast to portray the lead role in May 2017 and principal photography commencing in July 2020.

Uncharted is based on the popular PlayStation adventure game series from Naughty Dog, and tells the story of a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake, who is a descendant of the famed explorer Sir Francis Drake. Nathan, who is your classic “thief with a heart of gold” stereotype, frequently teams up with his old pal and mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan on his globe-spanning adventures to track down mystical objects and search for long-lost treasure.

Uncharted is scheduled to be theatrically released by Sony Pictures Releasing in the United States on February 18, 2022, in IMAX 3D, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema.
