Variety magazine confirmed this week that Warner Bros. has fast-tracked development of the next Wonder Woman installment. Gal Gadot will return as Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins will be back to write and direct Wonder Woman 3. The announcement follows the late release of Wonder Woman 1984 last week. Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich said,
“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ we are excited to be able continue her story with our real life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy.”
Wonder Woman 1984 collected $16.7 million in its opening weekend, the best opening to date in the coronavirus era.
