Cisco VP to employee who leaked embarrassing confidential memo to blog: “Finding you is now my hobby”

CIA logoNetwork world ran an article last month in which they claimed that California State University was ousting Cisco and replacing their campus’ network equipment with thousands of Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitches.  The cost of the project is $22 million.  With Cisco products the costs would have been $122 million – $100 million more expensive.  The press jumped all over the overcharge story and Cisco followed up with an internal memo to their employees addressing concerns and noting that “there is no way that Cisco’s bid was six times higher than the competition.”  Yeah, an employee of Cisco leaked the memo to the press.  Now their Vice President, Mike Quinn, is pissed.  He sent another memo to employees calling the leak of the internal confidential memo a violation of the Code of Business Conduct and calling for the leaker’s resignation.  You guessed it – the wily leaker had the balls to leak this memo to the press too.

VP Quinn said:

“Now I know you do not have it in you to stand up and admit what you did, so I will now make finding you my “hobby. Ask around you will find out that I like to work on my hobbies.”

Oh yeah, pretty tough talk from the big, bad Vice President, eh?  Well in this case I think I would go ahead and turn myself in.  You see, in Quinn’s previous life he served as an Operations Officer with the CIA. Uh oh.
