The PS5 is setting up to be a barn burner. First up, the custom-designed SSD is set to eliminate fast travel delays and loading times. Sony’s lead architect says the new SSD will load next sections of games in the blink of an eye, eliminating the need for game designers to place “corridors” in their worlds to take up time while the next section loads.
Add to this the new Geometry Engine and Intersection Engine is rumored to offer 10.4 Teraflops of power. With Epic Games new Unreal Engine 5… Wow.
You might want to sit down for this one. According to Sony President and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida this week, they plan to realize game data processing speeds that are approximately 100 times faster than the PS4.
The PS5 is scheduled to hit the stores this holiday season.
