Upper Deck Entertainment has officially announced “Enemies of Gotham,” a new strategic board game inspired by the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. The game, revealed today at Gen Con 2025, will give players the chance to step into the shoes of Gotham’s most notorious villains as they compete for control of the city while battling both rivals and the heroes of Gotham.
Game Overview and Unique Mechanics
“Enemies of Gotham” is designed for two to five players and features a dynamic gameplay experience lasting between 45 and 180 minutes. Players assume the roles of iconic villains such as The Joker, Poison Ivy, and Two-Face, each with unique powers and playstyles. The objective is to become Gotham’s most feared criminal mastermind by controlling city districts and outmaneuvering both competitors and the Batman himself.
The game centers around worker placement and drafting mechanics, challenging players to manage resources, seize territory, and outwit their opponents. A distinctive feature is the Arkham Asylum cube tower, which serves as a holding area for captured minions, adding an extra layer of strategy and risk.
Character Roster and Replayability
Twelve asymmetrical villains will be available to play, each bringing their own abilities and strategies. This diverse lineup ensures high replayability and varied player experiences as each session unfolds differently depending on character selection and in-game choices.
Release Information and Anticipation
Upper Deck announced that “Enemies of Gotham” will arrive in retail stores on May 15, 2026. The reveal has already generated excitement among both board game aficionados and fans of the Batman animated universe, who have praised the innovative approach to a beloved property. Further gameplay details and component previews are expected as the release date approaches.
