Disney and Pixar have released a trailer for their new film, “Elemental.” The movie takes place in Element City, an extraordinary place where different elements live and work. The trailer features four main elements – air, earth, water, and fire. Ember, a quick-witted and hot-headed woman from Firetown, explains what sets each of these elements apart.
In the film, which opens in theaters on June 16th, Ember ventures out of her comfort zone to explore Element City. The city is inspired by big cities from around the world and includes theorized contributions from each elemental community.
The movie features posters of four main characters: Ember, Wade, Clod, and Gale. Ember is a clever fire woman who loves her family but can be hot-headed at times. Wade is an observant water guy who is not afraid to show his emotions. Clod is a young, street-smart earth kid with a gentle heart who lives in Firetown. Gale is an air element with a big personality, a lot of bluster, and a fluffy pink complexion who is a serious superfan of an Air Ball team called the Windbreakers.
The voice cast includes Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, respectively, as well as Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, and Joe Pera. The film is directed by Peter Sohn, produced by Denise Ream, and executive produced by Pete Docter. The screenplay was written by John Hoberg & Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh, with a story by Sohn, Hoberg & Likkel, and Hsueh. The film’s original score was composed and conducted by Thomas Newman.
