A group of supervillains are recruited to go on missions for the government.
Thunderbolts is directed by Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank) from a script written by Kurt Busiek (Astro City) and Eric Pearson (Thor: Tagnarok). Kevin Feige is producing.
The film has an all-star cast including Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Sebatian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The script was completed on June 9, 2022, with pre-production beginning on July 20, 2022.

Following his Oscar-nominated role in Minari, Steven Yeun is set to join Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts in a part that, according to sources, is not only significant to this film but could also play a role going forward in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thunderbolts cast announced and it’s an all-star crew! September 11, 2022
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced an A-list crew of familiar cast members for the upcoming team-up film ‘Thurnderbolts’ during Marvel’s D23Expo panel. The ‘Thunderbolts’ cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.
Recall that Louis-Dreyfus’ villain recruited US Agent at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and she sent Yelena on a mission to kill Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in the post-credits scene of Black Widow. Harbour’s Red Guardian and Kurylenko’s Taskmaster were both introduced in 2021’s Black Widow along with Pugh’s Yelena. John-Kamen’s Ghost debuted back in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

At today’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, announced that Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts’, featuring an exciting new group of heroes, is slated for theaters on July 26, 2024!
Thunderbolts movie adaptation slated to begin production in 2023.
The source on this one is not strong but here it is – Marvel Studios will begin production of a Thunderbolts movie adaptation of the comic book in 2023. Recall The Thunderbolts are a group of reformed villains working as a team. Think Marvel’s version of the Suicide Squad.
Note that some Thunderbolts members have already appeared in the MCU making them strong candidates for parts in a Thunderbolts film project:
