About the The Boogeyman movie.

Boogeyman is the film adaptation of a short story, written by Stephen King, that was originally featured in a March 1973 issue of Cavalier magazine & later in Night Shift, a collection of short stories all written by King.

Movie synopsis

A psychiatrist, where a man named Lester Billings talks to the doctor about the “murders” of his three young children, describing the events of the past several years. His first two children died mysteriously of apparently unrelated causes (diagnosed as crib death and convulsions, respectively) when left alone in their bedrooms. The only commonalities were that the children cried “Boogeyman!” before being left alone, and the closet door ajar after discovering their corpses, even though Billings is certain the door was shut.

The Boogeyman will stream exclusively on Hulu.

Boogeyman stars David Dastmalchian, Sophie Thatcher, LisaGay Hamilton, Chris Messina, Marin Ireland, Madison Hu, Vivien Lyra Blair, Maddie Nichols (Natalie), Han Soto, Victoria Harris (nurse), Beau Hart, Elton LeBlanc, Dane Bourgeois, Maisie Bogert, and Ellie Bogert.

Production

The Boogeyman is directed by Rob Savage (Host) from a script based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name. The screenplay is written by Scott Beck (A Quiet Place), Akela Cooper (Luke Cage), Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), and Mark Heyman (Black Swan).

Producers for The Boogeyman include Scott Beck, Dan Cohen, Ryan H. Cunningham, Dan Levine, Shawn Levy, Emily Morris, John H. Starke, and Bryan Woods.

Status

The Boogeyman began pre-production way back in 2013. The creation of the screenplay began on in 2018 followed by pre-production on November 1, 2021. Filming for The Boogeyman began on February 18, 2022.
