Movie synopsis
Amid a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war—and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.

Production
The Creator is directed by Garaeth Edwards from a script he co-wrote with Chris Weitz.
The script for The Creator was completed on February 26, 2023 and the project began pre-production in June 2021. Filming for The Creator began on January 17, 2022 and wrapped up on May 30, 2022. Post production began on April 12, 2023.
Filming for The Creator took place in Bangkok, Thailand and Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.

A new trailer for “The Creator” was released today by 20th Century Studios, New Regency, and Entertainment One. The movie is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Academy Award winner Allison Janney. The movie is an epic sci-fi action thriller set in a future where humans are at war with artificial intelligence. Joshua, a former special forces agent, is mourning the disappearance of his wife and is recruited to kill the Creator, the architect of advanced AI. The Creator has created a weapon that has the power to end the war and destroy mankind, and Joshua must travel with his team across enemy lines to find and destroy it. However, they discover that the weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child. The screenplay for the movie was written by Edwards and Chris Weitz, based on a story by Edwards. The producers are Edwards, Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan, while Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman are the executive producers.
