Darkseid (Uxas) was created by writer-artist Jack Kirby and first made a cameo in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 in November 1970 before officially debuting in Forever People #1 in February 1971. He is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips whose ultimate goal is to conquer the universe by eliminating all hope and free will in sentient beings. A New God and one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, Darkseid serves as a staple Superman villain and the archenemy of the Justice League. The character was ranked as the 6th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time by IGN and as the 23rd Greatest Villain of All Time by Wizard magazine.
