Once upon a time, a talkative donkey agreed to watch over Shrek’s swamp. Now, Donkey is inviting guests from near and far to sleep like an ogre in Shrek’s Swamp, available on Airbnb.

Nestled in the hills of the Scottish Highlands, Shrek’s Swamp is a cozy and tranquil retreat perfect for those seeking solitude – and for a select few of Shrek’s biggest fans.

“Donkey thinks Shrek’s Swamp is just lovely. It’s absolutely beautiful and an ideal place to host guests,” Donkey shared. “You know what I really like about it? Everything. The lush vegetation, the simple interiors, the pleasant boulders – it’s all great. I’m excited for guests to experience this muddy piece of paradise themselves.”

Under Donkey’s care, guests will have the opportunity to live their own version of the ogre lifestyle for two magical nights (without the need for torches, pitchforks, or any bothersome Duloc Knights).

About the stay

Formerly a refuge for fairytale creatures, Shrek’s Swamp offers a unique experience with its creative use of trees, charmingly rustic interiors, and iconic outhouse. Guests can book an exclusive two-night stay* for up to three people from October 27-29, at a fair price per night that honors the invaluable sanctuary it has provided to fairytale creatures of all kinds.

During their stay in this spectacularly secluded swamp-scape, guests can:

  • Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
  • Kick their feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
  • Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
  • Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
  • And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)
