IBM has launched an ad campaign to introduce watsonx, its new enterprise artificial intelligence and data platform. The campaign aims to help global business leaders understand the transformative power of AI and how to use it effectively. Watsonx is positioned as a tool that can accelerate impact for businesses by applying AI solutions in new and innovative ways.
The campaign features two distinct ads that use a fast-paced, multimedia approach to explain the value proposition of watsonx. The ads highlight the importance of identifying the right AI to empower businesses to achieve their objectives and accelerate workloads. Real-world use cases illustrate the significance of applying AI that is trusted, targeted, and built on the best open technology available.
“The Right AI”
Watsonx provides businesses with a single platform that combines IBM’s best capabilities with open-source foundation models. This platform allows businesses to create, deploy, and manage both traditional machine learning and generative AI that can be adapted to new scenarios. Client data used to train models with Watsonx is not stored by IBM or used for any future training purposes, ensuring privacy and security. As shown in the ads, Watsonx enables organizations of all types to benefit from generative AI by automating customer response times, accelerating code generation, automating key workflows with digital labor in departments such as HR, application modernization, IT automation, and more.
“Transforming Business”
“In this new era of AI**,** businesses need bespoke solutions designed for value creation,” said Jonathan Adashek, SVP of Marketing and Communications at IBM. “That is why we launched watsonx, the AI platform that puts the power of foundation models and machine learning to work in the right ways, trained on a company’s own secured data and tailored to their unique needs. With this new campaign, we’re reinforcing the transformative power of AI for business to multiply output and ultimately help customers improve their outcomes.”
“In today’s business environment, companies that implement trusted AI tailored to their specific needs will have the upper hand. Laddering up to the brand’s ‘let’s create’ platform, ‘watsonx your business’ is a campaign that aims to clearly illustrate how IBM can help companies create the right AI for their business,” said Matt Curry, Global Creative Lead at Ogilvy. “We wanted the work to feel generative, like AI, always morphing and moving.
The campaign employs creative design to showcase the benefits of watsonx. For instance, one of the films uses a slot machine technique to demonstrate the risks involved in using the wrong AI, while another employs an “x” wipe effect to highlight the transformative power of watsonx. In our print, digital, and OOH ads, we use a ‘UI for AI’ concept that includes elements of the product UI in the copy to showcase its capabilities. Throughout the project, we used AI to inspire and create various aspects of the work,” as per Curry.
IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z
IBM has announced the release of Watsonx Code Assistant for Z, a new generative AI-assisted product that will help developers translate COBOL to Java on IBM Z faster and enhance developer productivity on the platform. This product will be available in Q4 2023, and is being designed to accelerate COBOL application modernization. Watsonx Code Assistant for Z will preview during TechXchange, IBM’s premier technical learning event in Las Vegas from September 11-13. Watsonx Code Assistant for Z is a new addition to the watsonx Code Assistant product family, along with IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Red Hat Ansible Lightspeed, scheduled for release later this year.
Watsonx Code Assistant for Z is being designed to help businesses modernize their mainframe applications with generative AI and automated tooling, while preserving the performance, security, and resiliency capabilities of IBM Z. The COBOL data processing language supports many vital business and operational processes at organizations globally. At scale, using watsonx Code Assistant for Z in comparison to other approaches could make it easier for developers to selectively and incrementally transform COBOL business services into well-architected high-quality Java code. Generative AI can help developers more quickly assess, update, validate and test the right code, allowing them to more efficiently modernize large applications and focus on higher impact tasks.
These solutions will be powered by IBM’s watsonx.ai code model, which will have knowledge of 115 coding languages, having learned from 1.5 trillion tokens. At 20 billion parameters, it is on target to become one of the largest generative AI foundation models for code automation. The watsonx Code Assistant product portfolio will extend over time to address other programming languages, improving time to value for modernization and addressing growing skills challenges for developers.
