The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the world’s oceans. It can be found in the western Pacific Ocean and is located to the east of the Mariana Islands. The trench reaches a maximum-known depth of approximately 36,070 feet (10,994 meters), which is deeper than the height of Mount Everest. The Mariana Trench is a crescent-shaped trench that measures about 1,550 miles (2,500 km) in length and 44 miles (70 km) in width. It is a result of the movement of tectonic plates in the Earth’s crust, and it is home to a diverse array of marine life, including some of the deepest-dwelling creatures on Earth.
