If you plan a visit to Australia, you should be aware that they have larger than normal spiders – like huge as in the size of a small dog. A weary traveler in Tasmania, Australia was unaware of their infamous huntsman spider and its gargantuan size until he found one clinging to the ceiling of his room – eating a possum.
The spine-chilling photos were taken by Justine Latton during a stay-over at Mount Field National Park and quickly went viral.
Huntsman spiders, also known as giant crab spiders or wood spiders, can have a leg span up to 13-inches. They can be found in Australia, Asia, and Africa. They have been accidentally introduced into parts of the United States too. They normally eat insects, small reptiles, and birds. Their bite is venomous.
