A timelapse video of California’s Death Valley desert during the Geminids Meteor Shower in December 2012, produced a surprising find when the video producers took a look at the timelapse results the next day. An unusual object appears as a bright zig-zagging light that makes three broad circular sweeps through the night sky over the darkened desert.
According to the video producers:
“Though in timelapse it appears to be moving fast, consider the 5 seconds = about 50 minutes, so it’s creeping. There was no sound, so it definitely wasn’t a helicopter.”
Sunchase Pictures shot the video of Death Valley’s remote Eureka Dunes during the Geminids Meteor Shower peak in mid-December 2012. The original 3-minute timelapse video of the desert is truly beautiful (see it here). It was shot with two DSLRs and condenses every 50 minutes into every 5 seconds of video. The result is a stunning view of the night sky capturing a few meteors zipping through air and a truly mysterious zig-zagging UFO that nobody has yet been able to explain.
In the video below, almost halfway into the video, watch the middle-left side of the night sky to spot the UFO making a couple of passing sweeps through the sky.
