After video of their prank on a local pizza delivery man (or are these guys just jerks) appeared online, employees of F&R Auto Sales of Westport, Massachusetts are getting the crap smacked out of them on the Internet. After a deluge of phone calls, email, and contacts through social networks, the company eventually stopped responding altogether. Then their ColdFusion-based website (http://www.fandrautosales.com/) went down. Soon thereafter, their Facebook page disappeared. To top it off, thousands of “reviews” on Yelp, BBB, Google, and other rating and review sites have been submitted branding the company with unbelievably horrible – and humorous – reviews (“I bought a car from these guys and found a dead body in the trunk.”).
Hey – let’s overpay the pizza guy and then tell his boss he stole our change
According to Boston.com, the saga began when F&R Auto Sales employees filmed an encounter with Palace Pizza driver, Jarrid Tansey, and posted it on YouTube. The total bill for the pizza and drinks was just over $42 for which the mathematically-challenged F&R Auto employees paid for with two twenty-dollar-bills and two five-dollar-bills, a total of $50 or $7 over the price of the meal. Given the extra $5 bill, the employee naturally assumed the overage was a typical 15% tip (Tansey told reporters that he even asked for confirmation before leaving the premises).
However, the dealership then called the pizza place back and complained that Tansey had “stolen” their change, forcing the man to drive back to the dealership to return the $7-and-change tip. Upon arriving back at the dealership, the driver calmly tries to point out there’s no logical reason for the extra bills that they gave him:
“It just doesn’t make sense why you’d hand me a bill that you were just gonna have me drive back here to give you back anyway. I’m not mad, I just had to waste my resources coming back here.”
While employees in the room mock him with mouth-farts, the Ben Franklin-looking guy at the desk quips back:
“So listen – the manager apologized once for you. Do you want him to apologize again for you?”
Finally, Tansey walks towards the door.
“It’s OK, you got your $7, so the world is right now.”
“Out the door before I put my foot in your ass!”
Toward the end of the video, you can hear the giggly black guy sitting in the back (the one that tries to crawl under his desk during the altercation but suddenly becomes bright-eyed and vocal after the delivery man leaves the premises) urge his coworker to call the restaurant back (according to the restaurant, the dealership did indeed call back to complain):
“Get the f—ing owner and the manager on the phone, I want that mother-f—er done. I want him fired.”
The video, originally titled “Irate Pizza Driver” was posted on YouTube but has since been removed.
The Palace Pizza restaurant says they were first called by the dealership saying Tansey had “verbally berated” them. The pizza restaurant manager admitted that F&R Auto has been known for stunts like this in the past.
“This isn’t the first time we have had problems with F&R Auto.”
Apparently controversy with F&R Auto is nothing new. According to Raw Story, a Yelp reviewer lambasted the company in May 2013 with the following:
“Don’t EVER come here. They’re a bunch of crooks and will do anything to keep your money and not give it back! These jerks don’t know what they’re doing. BEWARE!”
While another was quoted as saying:
“If I could rate it a minus-100 stars I would. LIES, UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, CONDESCENDING. Those are just the nicest of the words I can list for these individuals.”
For all practical purposes, with their website and Facebook pages down, F&R Auto Sales has been effectively removed from the Internet (except for a “joke” Google+ page created in their honor). Messages left through the site’s Google Connect link, Facebook account, listed email, and on Twitter were not immediately returned.
Finally. For once, the good guys won.

I told her what type of car I wanted for my son. She sighed and showed me a newer car that was to my liking. I quickly paid in full and I drove the new car off home while my wife drove my car.
It wasn’t until a half hour after being home that I got a call saying that I owed them $7. How is that possible? I paid in the full.”
