Hollywood is probably the only city in the world that offers fame, glitz and glamour, but secretly steals your soul. History is rife with examples of perilous plunges young actors and actresses have taken after seeding their souls with the “treasures” that Hollywood offers. Is successful actress Lindsay Lohan headed down that same path?
A young star shines bright atop an unstable pedestal
Lindsay began her career as a child fashion model and soon graduated to the soap opera circuit at age 10 and moved into the Disney pool of slaves by age 11. In 2004, Lindsay starred in Mean Girls, a highly successful outing, which propelled her to the top of the glamour stage.
Fame and fortune also brought public scrutiny and details of her strange family life began to emerge. Her father, Michael Lohan, spent much of Lindsay’s preteen years in prison for securities fraud. Upon release, he immediately returned for aggravated unlicensed driving and attempted assault. Shortly thereafter, her parents divorced, giving Lindsay a very fragile base with which to exist upon.
Lohan acts out
It was about this time that Lindsay began to break away from her family and try her own hand at life. On her own, things didn’t improve much. In 2003, media tabloids began “featuring” Lindsay after a catfight with another young actress, Hilary Duff, over their relationship with singer Aaron Carter (who starts in his own strange Hollywood story). Lindsay became a regular on the Hollywood circuit hanging with other notable celebrities including Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, and Nicky Hilton. Repeated car accidents, dramatic weight loss, and hospital visits were noted, and rumors of drug abuse began to circulate.
By the end of 2006, Lindsay began to reach out. The media noted Lindsay wearing a “90 days alcohol free” Alcoholics Anonymous pin while at the same time making fun of an email laden with grammatical errors and misspellings.
Bizarre ramblings
A second email sent in late 2006 to friends and attorneys was described as rambling and almost incoherent.
Lindsay said:
“Al Gore will help me. He came up to me last night and said he would be very happy to have a conversation with me. If he is willing to help me, let’s find out. Hilary [sic] Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Evan Metroplis [sic], and John Daur who works with them would be willing, if we just ask. If we just ASK.”
She continued by suggesting that they “release a politically/morally correct, fully adequate [sic] letter to the press,” adding she wants to voice her opinions on “how our society should be educated for the better of our country. Our people . . . because I have such an impact on our younger generations, as well as generations older than me. Which we all know and can obviously see.”
And finally:
“It’s my life. I want to live it. People cannot lie and think that it is okay to continue on having done so. I have had many ups and downs, as do we all. But to make false accusations to one girl is unjust in my opinion. I am willing to do anything I need to get my life the way it should be,”
Tick, tick, tick…
