Paranormal Investigation Bureau: Paranormal Investigation Software for Ghost Hunters, UFO Researchers and Field Teams

Paranormal Investigation Bureau (PIB) is paranormal investigation software: a hosted case management system built for the things people actually go out and investigate. UFO and UAP sightings. Ghosts, hauntings and poltergeist activity. Cryptids and creature legends. EVP sessions and other unexplained phenomena. It replaces the binder, the shared drive and the group chat with one organized case file that a ghost hunting team, a UFO research group or a solo investigator can search, share and report from.

Who uses PIB

  • Ghost hunting and paranormal investigation teams. Groups that run site investigations and need witness statements, an evidence vault, equipment and environmental logs, and a case report at the end that the whole team can stand behind.
  • UFO and UAP researchers. Individuals and networks logging sightings with object shape, flight behaviour, duration and lighting, plotted on a map and cross-referenced by witness, location and date.
  • Cryptid and folklore researchers. Creature-sighting databases with classification, location, witness credibility and the timeline of reports over decades.
  • Skeptics and debunkers. A structured debunking log records what was tested, what was ruled out and what remains, which is the honest core of any good paranormal investigation.
  • At-home researchers. You do not need a team or a site visit. Pick a case that fascinates you, the Roswell crash, the Phoenix Lights, a local legend, and use PIB to organize what is known: every witness and their credibility, every document and clipping, every location on the map, the timeline of claims and counter-claims, and a debunking log of what has been explained. It turns a pile of browser tabs into a case file.
  • Writers, podcasters and local historians. A case is a research file: sources, witnesses, places, dates and connections for a book, a podcast episode or a haunted-history walk.

What paranormal investigation software should do

A spreadsheet can hold a list of sightings. A paranormal case management system has to hold the whole investigation: the sighting itself with the detail that matters for its phenomenon, the witnesses and how credible they are, the location and its history, the evidence you collected and what happened to it afterwards, the equipment you deployed and the conditions at the time, the timeline of activity, and the debunking work that separates the explained from the unexplained. It should let a team work the same case, produce a printable report, and keep everything searchable across years of investigations. PIB was designed around that list.

Paranormal investigation software features in PIB

Case files built for the phenomenon

Each case holds one or more sighting events, and each event carries detail fields specific to its phenomenon type. UAP events record object shape, size, flight behaviour, lighting, sound and duration. Ghost and haunting events record manifestation type and haunting classification (residual, intelligent, poltergeist and so on). Cryptid events record creature classification and behaviour. Every event also records date, time and precision, because historical reports are often “June 1941” rather than a timestamp, and PIB stores and displays them that way.

A PIB case overview: witness narrative, confidence score and at-a-glance counts for every part of the investigation.

Witnesses with credibility ratings

Witnesses are a cross-case directory with contact details, witness type, credibility level and photo galleries. The same witness across three cases is one record with three links, so patterns in who reports what, and where, stay visible.

Locations on a map

Locations carry type, geocode confidence and history, and every case location is plotted on an interactive map. A UFO sighting tracker or a haunted-location database is one filtered map away.

Evidence vault with review status and custody

Photos, audio (EVP), video and documents are stored in a per-case evidence vault with evidence type, review status and classification, from “unreviewed” through “explained” to “unexplained”. Chain of custody is recorded so a team can show who handled a recording and when. In-browser OCR makes scanned witness statements and old newspaper clippings searchable.

Equipment logs and environmental conditions

Record which equipment was deployed on which event, and the conditions at the time: temperature, EMF readings, lunar phase, time-of-day category and weather. When a reading looks anomalous, the log is what lets you check it against everything else that was happening.

Timeline and debunking log

A running activity timeline per case records what happened and what the team did. Alongside it, a structured debunking log records each explanation tested, its finding and the classification that remains. Investigations that can show their negative results are the ones people trust.

The timeline log records interviews, equipment readings and EVP sessions in order, with drag-to-reorder.

Link analysis

A visual graph of the connections between witnesses, locations, organizations, objects and events, generated from the records you have already entered. Clusters of sightings around one location, or one witness who appears in several cases, show up immediately.

Link analysis connects witnesses, locations, organizations, objects, sighting events and evidence in one graph.

AI-assisted summaries and confidence scores

On paid plans, PIB drafts a case summary and a confidence score from the evidence on file, giving a team a starting point for the report and a consistent way to compare cases.

Team, sharing and printable reports

Investigation team members carry roles. Cases can be published at a read-only link for anyone outside the app, and a printable case report with photo plates can be exported for a client, a property owner or a publication.

Import and export

CSV templates exist for every table, so an existing sighting database or witness list can be imported, and the whole account can be exported as a bundle at any time. Your investigations are never locked in.

UFOs, ghosts, cryptids and everything else

PIB does not force one kind of case into another’s mould. A few ways teams use it:

  • UFO and UAP sighting database. Log sightings with the fields investigators actually compare (shape, behaviour, lighting, duration, altitude, direction), map them, and link multiple witnesses to one event. Historical cases and current reports live in the same searchable archive.
  • Haunting and ghost investigation log. Site investigations with equipment and environmental logs, EVP and photo evidence with review status, witness interviews, and a debunking log that separates drafts and plumbing from what is left over.
  • Cryptid and creature-legend research. A sighting database across decades with creature classification, location history and witness credibility, mapped and cross-referenced.
  • Folklore, local history and true-weird research. Treat a legend or a location as the case: sources as documents, tellers as witnesses, places on the map, and the timeline of how the story changed.
  • Researching a famous case from home. Take Roswell. Open a case, add the ranch, the debris field and the base as locations, add Brazel, Marcel and the later witnesses with credibility ratings, attach the press release, the 1947 newspaper pages and the 1994 report as documents, lay the claims out on the timeline, and log each explanation (weather balloon, Project Mogul, crash-test dummies) in the debunking log with its finding. What remains is your own organized view of the case, and link analysis shows which witnesses connect to which locations and documents.

Paranormal investigation software pricing

PIB is priced for individuals and small teams. Every plan is month to month with no contract, and the free Observer plan never expires. The Bureau plan includes a free trial, and Stripe handles billing so your card details never touch our servers.

Security and data ownership

Every case belongs to the account that created it. Access is granted per case and can be revoked at any time; collaborators and read-only links are judged by the case owner’s plan. Evidence changes are logged, case status changes are kept in a history, and the full account can be exported whenever you like. PIB runs in your browser over HTTPS on our hosted platform; there is nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use PIB from home, without a team or a site visit?

Yes. Many users never go into the field. They pick a case, historical or current, and use PIB to organize the research: witnesses, documents, locations, the timeline and a debunking log. A famous case such as the Roswell crash makes a good first project, and the free Observer plan is enough to read any case a friend shares while you decide.

Is PIB a ghost hunting app?

It is the case management behind ghost hunting. PIB does not replace your EMF meter or recorder; it is where the readings, recordings, witness statements and conclusions from an investigation are organized, reviewed and reported.

Can I track UFO and UAP sightings with it?

Yes. UAP is one of PIB’s phenomenon types, with its own detail fields (object shape, flight behaviour, lighting, duration and more), map plotting and multi-witness events. Many users run it purely as a UFO sighting database.

Does it handle EVP and audio evidence?

Audio files are stored in the evidence vault with type, review status, classification and a custody log, alongside photos, video and documents. Analysis itself happens in your audio tools; PIB keeps the file, the metadata and the conclusion together.

What is the debunking log for?

Recording what you tested and ruled out. Each entry names the candidate explanation, what was checked and the finding, so the case ends with a defensible classification rather than a feeling.

Can a team work on the same investigation?

Yes. Team members carry roles, cases can be shared at read-only links, and a printable report with photo plates can be produced for anyone outside the app. Collaborators inherit the case owner’s plan.

Can I import an existing sightings database?

Yes. Download the CSV template for any table, fill it from your spreadsheet or previous system, and import. Sighting events, witnesses, locations, evidence and more can be loaded this way, and everything can be exported again.

What does the free plan include?

Reading any case shared with you, with no card required. Running your own investigation starts with Field Investigator, and the Bureau plan offers a free trial so a team can try the full toolkit before paying.

Is PIB only for believers?

No. It is built to be equally useful to skeptics: the environmental logs, custody trail and debunking log exist so that explanations can be tested and recorded, and so the unexplained is what remains after the work, not before it.
