Hasbro’s Dr. Seuss Games Turn Classic Family Favorites Into Holiday Gifts

Hasbro Operation

Hasbro is giving its biggest family-game classics a Seussian makeover for the 2026 holiday season. The six-game collection reworks Operation, Monopoly Deal, Candy Land, Trouble, The Game of Life, and Chutes and Ladders around characters and settings from Dr. Seuss books, as first reported by Bleeding Cool.

The most overtly holiday-focused entries are Operation: The Grinch Edition and Monopoly Deal: How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Edition. In the former, players operate on the Grinch while avoiding ailments that can trigger the game’s nose-lighting buzzer. It includes a traditional Hospital mode and a faster Emergency mode, in which players have 60 seconds to remove as many maladies as possible. The Monopoly Deal version shifts the card game to Who-ville, asking players to assemble three complete item sets while using Christmas Cheer and action cards to interfere with opponents.

The other four releases spread the licensing across several of Dr. Seuss’s best-known worlds. Candy Land: The World of Dr. Seuss Edition sends players along a Rainbow Path as a favorite Seuss character, with a cooperative option that pits the group against the Cat in the Hat. Trouble: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Edition uses three-dimensional fish pegs and the familiar Pop-O-Matic race format, while adding themed spaces and challenges.

The Game of Life: Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Edition appears to be the most substantial mechanical remix in the lineup. Rather than focusing on the standard game’s money-driven progression, players choose routes through locations including Wide Open Air, High Heights, and The Waiting Place. Moment tokens, Life Experience flags, Companions, Challenges, and “Move Mountains” goals give the journey a distinctly Seussian vocabulary. Meanwhile, Chutes and Ladders: The Cat in the Hat Edition keeps the straightforward climb-and-slide structure, with pawns representing the Cat, Fish, Thing 1, and Thing 2.

Hasbro has not provided a single firm launch date, pricing information, or a complete retailer list in the holiday reveal. The company says the games are headed to its website and select retailers, meaning availability may vary by product and market. Independent coverage from The Toy Insider reported prices for several versions, including $19.99 for Candy Land and Operation, $24.99 for The Game of Life, and $6.99 for Monopoly Deal, while also identifying age guidance for some titles.

The collection’s appeal is less about inventing a new tabletop system than about matching familiar rules to instantly recognizable children’s-book imagery. That makes it an especially direct holiday play: younger players can approach games they already know through the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, or the colorful world of Dr. Seuss, while parents get recognizable Hasbro formats instead of an entirely new ruleset. For families building a seasonal game shelf, the six releases create a broad range from preschool play to quick competitive card games, with more product details expected as the holiday retail window approaches.
