iOS 27.2 Gives Siri AI Five New Languages—and Fixes 160 Security Flaws

Apple’s iOS 27.2 update is now rolling out with a meaningful upgrade for Siri AI—and a security checklist substantial enough to make the download worthwhile even for iPhone owners who rarely use Apple’s assistant. The release adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish to Siri AI’s beta language lineup, while also introducing improvements to how the assistant remembers conversations and uses personal context. Apple’s latest iPhone update is available alongside corresponding software releases for iPad and other Apple platforms.

Apple describes the conversational changes as an effort to make Siri AI more useful across multiple interactions rather than treating every request as a blank slate. The assistant can retain useful context from earlier exchanges and draw on a wider range of personal information when answering. The update also adds contextual Suggestions in Messages, allowing conversations to surface quick actions in apps such as Calendar and Reminders.

The language expansion is the headline change for users who have been waiting to try Apple’s redesigned assistant outside English. Apple says Siri AI remains in beta and requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device configured for a supported language. Availability is also limited by region: the company’s support documentation says Siri AI is not currently available in the European Union or mainland China. Apple’s announcement confirms that the five new languages are arriving through the 27.2 software updates.

Under the hood, iOS 27.2 is just as much a maintenance release as an artificial-intelligence update. Apple’s security documentation lists more than 160 fixes across areas including the kernel, WebKit, system apps, privacy controls, and media handling. The patches address problems that could allow unauthorized access to protected data, improper permission checks, or malicious web content to trigger harmful behavior. Several fixes were also made available to devices still running older iOS branches.

The update supports iPhone 11 and newer models, along with recent iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad, and iPad mini hardware listed in Apple’s security-release page. Siri AI features remain restricted to hardware that supports Apple Intelligence, so installing iOS 27.2 does not automatically bring the new assistant experience to every compatible iPhone.

For users, the practical choice is straightforward: install iOS 27.2 for the security fixes, then explore Siri AI if the device and region qualify. The bigger test for Apple will be whether conversational memory and broader language support make Siri feel consistently more capable—or merely add another beta layer to an assistant whose most ambitious features are still arriving incrementally.
