Joker: Folie a Deux will be Joaquin Phoenix’s first sequel. The title, Folie a Deux, is French for Madness for Two. Status

Joker: Olie a Deux was announced on November 20, 2019, with pre-production beginning on August 4, 2022, and completing on November 9, 2022. Filming began on December 4, 2022, in New York City and Los Angeles.

Todd Phillips drops first look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. February 14, 2023

Director Todd Phillips just dropped a Valentine’s Day bombshell on Instagram! He shared a sneak peek photo of Lady Gaga in character as Harley Quinn, the longtime love interest of the Clown Prince of Crime. The photo shows Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn getting cozy in a twisted and dark way. It looks like Fleck’s Joker makeup is starting to fade, and some of it has rubbed off on Gaga’s character.

The pic marks the first public look at Gaga in the film.

You’ve probably heard that Joker 2 is going to be a musical, right? Sounds like a ton of work, huh? Well, according to some sources who talked to TMZ, the extras on set are pretty ticked off because they had to work for over two hours straight without even getting a chance to pee or grab a drink. Apparently, these complaints come up during camera setup times that can last between 20 minutes to an hour. And some of the extras were actually scolded for asking for a bathroom break, which totally freaked out the other background actors who now don’t want to ask for a bathroom break themselves. Yikes.

After it was confirmed that filming is underway with a first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s return in Joker 2, Lady Gaga has now hinted on Instagram that she is currently filming her Harley Quinn debut.

“Thank you so much to the Academy for nominating my song “Hold My Hand” for an Oscar this year! Writing this song for the film Top Gun: Maverick was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget. So grateful for the magic of music and cinema. Love you my co-writer @bloodpop I’m on set filming now big love to little monsters!”

Officially announced just yesterday, director Todd Phillips‘ sequel Joker: Folie à Deux will be arriving in theaters from Warner Bros. on October 4, 2024, and Lady Gaga has taken to social media today to confirm that she’s officially on board for the sequel in a huge co-starring role.

Lady Gaga is in early talks to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in director Todd Phillips’ sequel to Joker, the Oscar-winning, $1 billion-grossing, 2019 Warner Bros. hit based on the DC villain. If a deal makes, Gaga would play Quinn. However, this new Quinn exists in a different DC universe than Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, who most recently appeared in 2021’s The Suicide Squad as well as several other films.
