The Witcher: Legacy is set to give fans a new way to return to the Continent when Go On Board’s officially licensed adventure board game launches in summer 2027. The project, developed with CD Projekt RED, is built around the Wolf School and expands an era of Witcher history that has received relatively little attention in the games. ScreenRant first reported the newly confirmed release window.
Unlike The Witcher 4, this is not a new video game from CD Projekt RED. The Witcher: Legacy is a story-driven tabletop campaign for one to four players, playable either solo or cooperatively. The official announcement describes a branching adventure in which player decisions can alter the course of the story, with the action unfolding across the kingdom of Kaedwen. CD Projekt RED’s announcement identifies it as the third Witcher-world board-game collaboration between the studio and Go On Board.
The premise centers on the aftermath of a devastating attack on the School of the Wolf. Players take on the roles of Witchers investigating the assault, hunting the people responsible, and attempting to protect the order’s legacy before it disappears entirely. That setup makes room for familiar Witcher ingredients—monster contracts, political intrigue, and difficult moral choices—without simply retelling Geralt of Rivia’s best-known adventures. Wargamer’s early coverage reports that the campaign will include multiple scenarios and a branching narrative tied to the fate of the school.
Legacy follows The Witcher: Old World, Go On Board’s earlier Witcher tabletop release, which brought competitive monster hunting to the franchise’s setting. The new game shifts the emphasis toward a cooperative, campaign-focused format, a natural fit for players who want their group’s choices to shape an ongoing story rather than compete for the most prestigious contract. Polygon described the project as a follow-up to Old World and noted its focus on the events surrounding the Wolf School’s fall.
The timing also gives Witcher fans a substantial release to anticipate while the next mainline RPG remains several years away. CD Projekt RED has said that The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to receive the new Songs of the Past expansion in 2027. The studio’s 2026 update frames those projects as part of a plan for a major Witcher-related release each year.
The Witcher: Legacy is already being promoted through Gamefound, where prospective players can follow the campaign and preorder options ahead of the summer 2027 arrival. Exact retail availability and final delivery details may vary by edition and region, but the central promise is clear: a large-scale tabletop Witcher story designed to make the party’s decisions matter.
