One of the most popular car styles to emerge from southern California is the lowrider, known for its eye-catching paint jobs and hydraulic suspensions. These distinctive vehicles quickly gained a passionate fan base, with the 1975 Chevy Monte Carlo being a particularly coveted model in the community. Our new model pays homage to this classic car, featuring an articulated suspension that can be adjusted to achieve a high or low stance, and even drop down to a three-wheel motion. To further celebrate its origins, the car’s license plate has been customized to read “WESTSID”.

The history of the lowrider culture

The lowrider culture started in the 1940s in Mexican-American communities in California. It was a way for Mexican-American youth to express themselves and their culture through their cars. The cars were modified to have hydraulic systems that allowed them to lower and raise the car, hence the name “lowrider”. The cars were also adorned with unique paint jobs, custom interiors, and chrome accessories. Lowriders became a symbol of Chicano pride and a way to resist assimilation into American culture. Today, lowrider culture has spread across the United States and beyond, with car clubs and events dedicated to showcasing these unique and beautiful cars.
