Dune universe continues to grow with a new movie, book trilogy, and a series of graphic novels

Dune authors Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert, son of original Dune author Frank Herbert, revealed details about upcoming graphic novels following on the heels of Denis Villenueve’s film adaptation along with a trio of new Dune books.

The book trilogy will begin with Dune: The Duke of Caladan, which takes place a year before the original Dune. The third book will end on the news that House Atreides is being relocated to Arrakis which will nicely set up events of the main story.

Dune: House Atreides will be a 12-issue comic series which will be based in tandem with a graphic novel retelling Frank Hervert’s original Dune story.

Dune, like our universe, is expanding, but we’re very conscious that we don’t want to expand it too far,” Herbert said. “We don’t want to come up with material that the hard-core Dune fans will not appreciate, because Dune above all is a very high-quality work, and we struggle to maintain that quality.”

All the excitement takes place throughout the month of October. Dune: The Duke of Caladan comes out on October 13, Dune: House Atreides is set to launch on October 21, and the first issue of the Dune graphic novel trilogy coming out on October 27.

Update: Dune premiere pushed to October 1, 2021.
