IDW has announced the forthcoming release of a five-issue comic book series, “Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes.” This new series will be helmed by acclaimed screenwriter, producer, and comic book writer, Marc Guggenheim, known for his work on CW’s “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca.”
Set directly after the events of the monumental 1979 film, “Echoes” promises to be a thrilling adventure that sees the legendary Captain James T. Kirk and his crew face both daunting and alarmingly recognizable enemies. As the Enterprise is thrown into turmoil by the arrival of a criminal mastermind, pursued by a determined pilot, they must prevent a war with the Romulans and put a stop to a dangerous superweapon that could lead to disastrous consequences. The plot thickens when the villainous newcomers remove their helmets, revealing themselves to be doppelgängers of the beloved Star Trek heroes.
Fans can look forward to the release of the first issue in May, complete with stunning artwork by Oleg Chudakov, and a variety of cover variants including the works of artists Jake Bartok, Luke Sparrow, Rod Reis, and the series’ very own Chudakov.
