In July, DC Comics announced the upcoming launch of a new line of comic books called Absolute Universe, set to debut this fall. The series will start hitting shelves at local comic book stores in October, with more releases planned for November and beyond. Today, DC revealed the main covers for Absolute Batman #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #1, and Absolute Superman #1, along with their new logos. They also shared variant covers for each of the launch titles.

ABSOLUTE BATMAN #1

Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta are introducing a new version of Batman in Absolute Batman #1. This rendition of the Dark Knight will be different from the traditional one, as he won’t have the same wealth, mansion, or butler. The debut issue, featuring colors by Frank Martin and letters by Clayton Cowles, will be available at comic book shops and digital retailers on Wednesday, October 9. Absolute Batman #1 will have a main cover by Nick Dragotta and Frank Martin, along with variant covers by Wes Craig and Mike Spicer, Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair, Mitch Gerads, and Ian Bertram (1:25).

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #1

For Diana, there is no island paradise, no sisterhood to shape her, nor a mission of peace. So, what is the purpose of an Amazon warrior in this new universe? Eisner Award-winning writer Kelly Thompson and breakout artist Hayden Sherman reinvent her from the ground up in Absolute Wonder Woman #1. The issue will be on sale on Wednesday, October 23rd. Absolute Wonder Woman #1 will feature a main cover by Hayden Sherman and Jordie Bellaire, as well as variant covers by Wes Craig and Mike Spicer, Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair, Jeff Dekal, and Dan Panosian (1:25), with colors by Jordie Bellaire and letters by Becca Carey.

ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #1

Writer Jason Aaron and artist Rafa Sandoval team up to introduce a new iteration of Superman in Absolute Superman #1. This version of Superman has no family, no Fortress of Solitude, and no home. Will he continue to uphold truth and justice in this new universe? Readers can discover the answer when Absolute Superman #1, featuring colors by Ulises Arreola and letters by Becca Carey, arrives at participating comic book shops on Wednesday, November 6. Absolute Superman #1 will feature a main cover by Rafa Sandoval and Ulises Arreola, as well as variant covers by Wes Craig and Mike Spicer, Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair, Clayton Crain, and Matteo Scalera (1:25).

All three launch issues will also have a “foil design variant” featuring the new crests for each of DC’s new Absolute Trinity. You can find these variants at your local comic book store. The Absolute Batman #1 will be available on October 9, Absolute Wonder Woman #1 on October 23, and Absolute Superman #1 on November 6.

About DC’s Absolute Universe Series

The Absolute Universe (AU) is a new continuity separate from the DC Universe (DCU) overseen by Scott Snyder as part of the DC All In initiative. According to Snyder, while the DCU is “influenced by Superman energy”, the AU is “influenced by Darkseid energy”, resulting in society treating its superheroes as underdogs. The AU will begin in October 2024 with the DC All-In Special. The first titles to be released in the AU are Absolute Batman by Scott Snyder with Nick Dragota, and Absolute Wonder Woman by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman. In November, Absolute Superman by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval will debut. Two new titles were announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024: Absolute Flash by Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles, along with Absolute Green Lantern by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay.
