On February 27, 1996, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green were launched in Japan, marking the beginning of one of the world’s most beloved entertainment franchises. The games allowed players to battle and trade Pokémon by connecting their Gameboy devices, creating a global community of fans known as “Trainers.” Since then, February 27 has been celebrated as Pokémon Day by Trainers worldwide.

This year, The Pokémon Company International is celebrating the original and enduring spirit of connectivity that began with the first games by launching the “Pokémon Together” campaign. The program invites Trainers to come together throughout 2023, and a special trailer illustrating the concept has been released.

To kick off the campaign, The Pokémon Company International invites Trainers to “Celebrate Pokémon Together” this Pokémon Day. Fans worldwide can post photos and videos showcasing their love for the franchise and share their favorite memories on social media using the hashtag #PokemonTogether. These posts will have the chance to be aggregated into a mosaic in the style of the iconic Poké Ball, which will be revealed on Pokémon Day. The official @PokemonNewsUK social media channels will also feature #PokemonTogether testimonials from members of the global fan community to inspire Trainers for their submissions.

Andy Hartpence, Senior Director of Brand Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, said that since its beginning, Pokémon has had the unique ability to physically and virtually bring people together. In 2023, the company aims to recognize this aspect of the brand and invite its remarkable community of fans to experience the many ways they can connect and “Pokémon Together” across the franchise.

Fans can visit the online hub that launched today at Pokemon.co.uk/Together to see the reveal of the Poké Ball mosaic. They are also invited to stay tuned for more details about the Pokémon Day celebration and join the conversation with #PokemonTogether.
