LG sold their first Ultra HD TV yesterday at the bargain-basement price of only $16,999. Yes folks, that’s $3,000 off the MSRP of $19,999. It’s a whopping 84-inch beast boasting 4,000 lines of resolution that’s guaranteed to sear your eyeballs and stretch your optic nerve to the point of snapping.
The new TVs went on sale yesterday in Lawndale, California where LG launched their new Ultra HD television at a huge promotional event. 700+ people stood in line and at least six sets were sold by 2:00 PM.
Ultra HD is the next generation television standard announced by the Consumer Electronics Association on October 18, 2012. It features a 3840 x 2160 resolution with aspect ratios of 16:9.
Prices are expected to remain at $16,999 – at least until LG sees some new competition in the Ultra-HD market (right now they’re the only ones selling the new Ultra-HD technology).

One youngster, Jeremiah, about 10 years old, was incredulous.
“$17,000?!” he asked when heard the price.
He cogitated for a moment and then asked, “How much will it be on Black Friday?”
“$17,000,” replied the LG rep.
