SHOWTIME® has announced that WACO: THE AFTERMATH, a five-episode limited series, starring Michael Shannon (GEORGE & TAMMY), will be available for streaming and on-demand for SHOWTIME subscribers on Friday, April 14, followed by its on-air debut on Sunday, April 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Waco: The Aftermath marks the 30th anniversary of the tragic events at Mt. Carmel that started on February 28, 1993. WACO: THE AFTERMATH focuses on the aftermath of the Waco disaster, including the trials of the surviving members of the Branch Davidian sect and the rise of homegrown terrorist Timothy McVeigh. The series also explores the escalation of the American militia movement, which foreshadows the Oklahoma City bombing and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
In addition, viewers can watch the 2018 limited series WACO on non-linear platforms from Friday, March 3, and on-air from Sunday, March 5, at 10 p.m. ET on SHOWTIME. The six-episode limited series is based on the true story of the 51-day stand-off between the ATF and the Branch Davidians, a small religious community in Texas, which resulted in a deadly shootout and fire.
The previously announced cast includes Michael Shannon, John Leguizamo, Giovanni Ribisi, David Costabile, J. Smith Cameron, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson, and Abbey Lee. The series is directed by Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle, who also serve as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, Andrew Gettens, Lauren Mackenzie, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Ron Burkle of 101 Studios, and Gary Barber of Spyglass.
