HIDIVE has announced that they have acquired the new fantasy comedy TV series, The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess, which will premiere exclusively on their platform this October. The series is based on the popular shōnen light novel series by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu. HIDIVE President, John Ledford, expressed his excitement for the acquisition, and assures fans that it will be a blood-sucking good time for both vampire and comedy fans.
The story follows the life of Terakomari Gandesblood (Komari), a shut-in vampire who has been appointed as a Commander in the Mulnite Imperial Army. Her new unit consists of ruffians who revolt against their superiors at the slightest hint of weakness. Despite coming from a line of powerful and prestigious vampires, Komari’s refusal to drink blood has made her scrawny, uncoordinated, and inept at magic. With the help of her maid, Vill, Komari must find a way to succeed against all odds.
The light novel series has 11 volumes to date and was first released in January 2020. The series is produced by project No. 9 with direction by Tatsuma Minamikawa and writing by Keiichirō Ōchi. The series stars Tomori Kusunoki as Terakomari Gandesblood, Sayumi Suzushiro as Villhaze, and Yōko Hikasa as Karen Helvetius.
