Apple introduces new Immersive Video series for Vision Pro devices.

Apple Vision Pro immersive video

Starting this week, Apple is releasing new series and films captured in Apple Immersive Video, debuting exclusively on Apple Vision Pro. Apple Immersive Video uses 3D video recorded in 8K with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio to put viewers at the center of the action.

Boundless, a new series that lets viewers experience unique trips from anywhere, premieres at 6 p.m. PT today, July 18, with “Hot Air Balloons.” The next episode of Wild Life, a nature documentary series, premieres in August. Elevated, an aerial travel series showing iconic vistas from great heights, will launch in September.

Later this year, users can enjoy special performances by the world’s biggest artists, starting with an immersive experience from The Weeknd; the first scripted Apple Immersive short film, Submerged, written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger; a behind-the-scenes and on-the-court view of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend; and Big-Wave Surfing, the first episode of a new sports series with Red Bull.

“Apple Immersive Video is a groundbreaking leap forward for storytelling, offering Apple Vision Pro users remarkable experiences with an unparalleled sense of realism and immersion,” said Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of Marketing Communications. “From soaring over volcanoes in Hawaii and surfing huge waves in Tahiti, to enjoying performances by the world’s biggest artists and athletes from new perspectives, Apple Immersive Video changes how people experience places, stories, sports, and more by making viewers feel like they’re truly there. It’s the next generation of visual storytelling, and we’re excited to bring it to more people around the world.”

With Boundless, viewers can experience their dream trips and meet inspiring people in extraordinary places. In “Hot Air Balloons,” viewers soar over the unique landscape of Cappadocia, Türkiye. The next episode, “Arctic Surfing,” available this fall, follows surfers in the cold region north of the Arctic Circle seeking winter waves.

Wild Life

This August, Apple releases the second episode of Wild Life, taking viewers to Kenya’s Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where orphaned elephants are cared for, play in mud baths, and form bonds with their keepers and wild elephants. Later this year, viewers will join divers in the Bahamas, encountering apex predators and complex sea creatures.

Elevated

In the first episode of Elevated, an aerial travel series premiering this September, viewers fly over volcanoes, waterfalls, and natural wonders across Hawaii. The next episode, available later this year, takes viewers through a crisp autumn in New England along scenic coastlines and rivers.

Submerged, the first scripted short film in Apple Immersive Video, premieres this fall. Set in World War II, it follows sailors on a submarine during a deadly torpedo attack. Written and directed by Edward Berger, Submerged highlights the unique storytelling possible with Apple Immersive Video on Apple Vision Pro.

2024 NBA All-Star Weekend

This fall, basketball fans can enjoy a unique view of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis with an immersive short film featuring the Rising Stars, Slam Dunk contest, the first NBA vs. WNBA 3-Point Challenge with Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry, and the All-Star Game.
