Bad Monkey season 2 sets December Apple TV+ streaming debut

bad monkey season 2

Apple TV+ has finally circled a date on the calendar for its crime-comedy Bad Monkey: season 2 will premiere December 2, 2026, with new first-look photos teasing the next chapter for Vince Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy. The 10-episode sophomore run will once again stream exclusively on Apple TV+, rolling out weekly through February 3, 2027.

Bad Monkey adapts Carl Hiaasen’s cult-favorite novel of the same name, created for TV by Ted Lasso and Shrinking producer Bill Lawrence, with Vaughn starring and executive producing as disgraced Miami cop turned Florida Keys health inspector Andrew Yancy. Season 1 launched on August 14, 2024 with a two-episode premiere followed by weekly installments through October 9, establishing the show as one of Apple TV+’s more acclaimed genre hybrids. The first outing mixed murder mystery, environmental satire, and laid-back Florida-weird humor, and Apple officially branded it an “acclaimed hit comedy” when talking up its performance.

Rather than continuing to adapt Hiaasen’s book beat for beat, season 2 will pivot to an all-new original mystery built for television, still anchored by Yancy’s morally flexible worldview and the show’s off-kilter Florida noir tone. Apple has framed the new season as a fresh, standalone story, which gives Lawrence and his writers room to carry the series beyond the events of the novel if audiences stick around. Vaughn will be joined again by returning cast members Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, Ronald Peet, L. Scott Caldwell and John Ortiz, who helped define the show’s blend of corrupt power players, eccentric locals and hapless tourists in season 1. Season 2 is also adding some heavyweight new faces, with John Malkovich joining as a series regular and comedian Nate Jackson coming in for a recurring role, though character details are being kept under wraps.

Apple officially renewed Bad Monkey in December 2024, only weeks after the first season wrapped, signaling strong confidence in Vaughn and Lawrence’s sun-baked crime saga. Filming on the new episodes began in late 2025, with production relocating to California thanks in part to a reported 20 million tax incentive package backing the move. Before the date announcement, both industry coverage and Vaughn himself had pointed to a likely late-2026 window, so the December 2 premiere lands squarely in that predicted timeframe.

The newly released images that accompany the season 2 reveal give viewers an early glimpse at Vaughn’s returning Yancy and the series’ familiar sun-bleached, slightly grimy crime aesthetic, even as Apple keeps specific plot details tightly under wraps. Story specifics for the new case remain largely secret, but given season 1’s focus on corrupt development, political rot and environmental damage in the Keys, fans should expect more biting satire threaded through another twisty criminal caper.

Bad Monkey season 2 will debut with a single episode on December 2, 2026 before shifting to a weekly release every Wednesday through February 3, 2027 on Apple TV+. For anyone who missed Vaughn’s first outing as Yancy, the complete inaugural season is already streaming on Apple TV+, making it easy to binge through the original misadventure before the next twisted case washes ashore.
