Florence Pugh added to cast of Dune Part 2. March 9, 2022

Led by Timothée Chalamet and starring a cast of big names such as Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and many more, “Dune Part 2” just became even more highly anticipated than it already was. Fan favorite Florence Pugh (Black Widow) has been added to the cast of Dune Part 2.
After her smashing appearance as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, Pugh is one of the most in-demand actors around. Her role in Dune Part 2 as Princess Irulan is no small part either. The daughter of Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, ruler of the known universe at the time, Irulan was an enormous influence in author Frank Herbert’s original “Dune” novels and will likely be an influential character in the film(s) to come

In speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, director Denis Villeneuve says there is still no official release date for Dune Part 2 but he did reveal that progress is being made and the movie is currently in a design phase.
“Right now, I’m in what you call ‘soft prep,’ meaning that we are finishing the screenplay. We’ll start storyboards soon. [Dune] Part 2 is being designed right now by [production designer] Patrice [Vermette]. It’s that beautiful part where it’s just dreaming, looking at the ceiling and thinking about the movie, I love it. I mean, it’s like the moment where everything is possible, before we have the shock of reality that will come.”
Director Denis Villeneuve say Dune Part Two will be amazing. November 20, 2021
Speaking to Empire, Dune director Denis Villeneuve says the sequel to the hit Dune will be amazing.
“Part Two will be such a cinematic treat. Making Part One for me was just to set the table, you know? And to explain the cultures and the background of all the different planets and civilizations. And then to have that chance, now that everything is set, Part Two will be just an amazing playground. It will be so fun to do.”

Denis Villeneuve comments on a Dune 2 sequel after Dune exceeds box office expectations. October 29, 2021.
“It’s fantastic news, but it’s also kind of a burden. The good news is that a lot of the work has been done already regarding design, casting, locations and writing. So we’re not starting from scratch. It’s not a long period of time, but I will try to face that challenge because it’s important for me that the audience sees Part Two as soon as possible. It’s not a sequel where it’s another episode or another story with the same characters. It actually has direct continuity to the first movie. It’s the second part of the big, huge movie that I’m trying to do. So the sooner the better.”
Warner Bros. exec questioned about Dune 2 sequel. “I think you pretty much know the answer to that.” October 21, 2021
Dune arrived in theaters and on HBO Max stateside today, but unlike the 1984 film, this version only adapts the first half of Frank Herbert’s original novel. However, a recent statement from WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff gives us hope. Here’s what she said when Deadline asked if Dune 2 is happening:
“Will we have a sequel to Dune? If you watch the movie you see how it ends. I think you pretty much know the answer to that.”

Dune director Denis Villeneuve says despite not being greenlit yet, he has begun writing the script for Dune: Part Two. August 18, 2021
Dune director Denis Villeneuve told Total Film even though the project still hasn’t been greenlit by the studio, he has already started writing the screenplay for the sequel, which he would call Dune: Part Two.
I’m writing Part Two now, and I feel like I’m eight years old again. That’s very uncommon for me. It’s the first time I’ve experienced it where I’m watching one of my movies, and I have a moment of deep gratitude, of deep joy, and I say, ‘Thank you, life, for having allowed me to bring that to the screen.’ I don’t know how other people will feel about it. But me? Denis Villeneuve when he was 14 years old? Thank you.”
