“Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior, She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”
Predator: Prey shot under the name Predator: Skull . It is produced by John Fox and John Davis and is the fifth installment in the franchise. Prey will take on the first Predator attack 300 years ahead of the events of 1987’s movie. It will drop on Hulu streaming service in 2022.
The script was written by Patrick Aison, whose producer-writer credits include the series Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone. Filming wrapped on September 12, 2021.
The cast features plenty of Native and First Nation talent, including Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), and Julian Black Antelope (Tribal). It will also feature Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories) as the Predator.

The Prey release date is set for 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Friday, Aug. 5.
Predator producers confirm working movie title and female lead. (July 28, 2021)
For several years, a new Predator film has been in development with rumors stating that it would be a period piece with a female lead. This week, producers John Fox and John Davis confirmed the truth behind some of these rumors. While speaking to Collider the two Predator producers revealed the upcoming film was working under the title Predator: Skull (not the official title) and provided a few plot details while confirming that the film will have a female lead:
“This is the Predator’s first journey to this planet. The third is our lead-our hero is female which I always think is interesting. I guess I did that with Predator vs Alien. And the fourth thing about it is it goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force.”
The film will reportedly focus on the origin story of the Predator’s first journey to Earth and should, as a result, be a callback to the first film’s survivalist tone.
