Movie synopsis
Geared towards a general audience and especially tweens, teens, and young adults, the live action series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Production
Series author, Rick Riordan will write the pilot for the show along with Jon Steinberg. James Bobin will direct. All three also serve as executive producers, further exemplifying the degree of creative control that Riordan appears to enjoy on this project.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians series greenlit by Disney+. January 25, 2022
Disney+ says they have officially greenlit an adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The announcement was made today by Riordan himself.
The series will begin with the first book, “The Lightning Thief.” Taking place in the modern day, it tells the story of a 12-year-old boy, Percy Jackson, who discovers that not only are the Greek Gods real, but that he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek God of the ocean, when he is framed for stealing one of Zeus’s most prize possessions. Now, with monsters on his tail and a civil war brewing in the Greek Pantheon, Percy must embark on a quest, that will take him across the country from New York to California, with his new friends to figure out who really stole it and clear his name.
