Leave it up to Banksy to contribute to the dialog in a short but sweet message that tears our hearts in two. This new artwork was published online on June 6, 2020 and depcits an American flag being set alight by a candle placed at a memorial in tribute of George Floyd. The small anonymous, black, silhouetted figure in the picture frame says it all.
Accompanying the picture was this short statement from Banksy:
“People of color are being failed by the system. The white system. This is a white problem. And if white people don’t fix it, someone will have to come upstairs and kick the door in”
