
Silfredo Castillo Martinez, a daycare provider in the Bronx, New York, has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child, production of child pornography, and receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography. According to the allegations, from July 2015 to at least May 3, 2022, Castillo Martinez operated a licensed daycare facility for children in the Bronx, New York. During May 2018 to at least July 2018, Castillo Martinez allegedly induced an 11-year-old minor, who attended the daycare facility, to engage in sexually explicit conduct at the daycare facility while recording the said conduct on his cellphone and camera.
On May 3, 2022, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Castillo Martinez’s residence and seized several electronic devices belonging to Castillo Martinez. Those devices contained several images and a video containing child pornography depicting the 11-year-old minor as well as approximately 9,800 other images depicting child pornography.
The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years to life in prison. The sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge.
