Four separate sightings of Slender Man, the tall, stick-like specter said to visit people’s homes in the dead of night, have been reported in Britain’s Cannock area sparking an investigation of the spooky sightings. Paranormal investigator and British author Lee Brickley told reporters:
“To get so many sightings at roughly the same time is unusual.”
Three of the four Slender Man sightings took place inside the person’s home, the first of which was a Slender Man visit to the home of Pye Green around 2:00 AM on December 14, 2014. Green awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of a scratching noise inside her bedroom. As she rose from bed to investigate, she saw a “sphere-shaped shadow” near her wardrobe. As she swung her legs out of bed to get a closer look, the shadow began to “stretch towards the ceiling”. According to Green:
“It was at that point I found myself faced with the most disgusting and horrific creature imaginable.”
Green told investigators the mysterious entity was about eight feet tall with a white face and “razor-sharp fangs”.
A second resident in the area of Slitting Mill, Rugeley reported a similar occurrence. The witness says he awoke in the middle of the night to find a black-clad man floating over his bed. He described the terror he felt as he gazed directly into its eyes:
“I could see into his eyes. They were a fierce red color that shook me to my very core.”
The man says the ordeal ended when Slender Man, who was “completely dressed in black with a hat to match”, floated higher and higher until he hit the ceiling and disappeared.
A third Rugeley resident came forward shortly thereafter reporting a Slender Man sighting that took place near Castle Ring, an ancient fort known as a gathering place for ancient Druids during their summer solstice celebrations. The anonymous resident described the events that happened while he was taking a midnight stroll through the area.
“I happened to notice a strange figure in the distance. It appeared to rise out of the trees and hover over the path around 100 meters in front of me. It was very dark, but I could see it clearly because of the lights coming from Rugeley. It was also a pretty clear night. If I were to compare it to anything, I would say it looked like a stereotypical Victorian gentleman – long, black overcoat with a homburg hat. I know this was no flying human because it had blood red eyes that shone in the night. It also had a mouth full of teeth that seemed to look like razors. Whatever it was, it stopped hovering and descended back into the trees.”
After a fourth sighting emerged from the same area, Lee Brickley launched an official investigation into the phenomena which has prompted further interest in the rash of Slender Man cases in Cannock. One resident in the area even reportedly captured a photograph of the elusive Slender Man (see photo below). She said:
“It kind of looks like the top half of Slender Man like his shoulders and head, with the bottom half covered by bushes. I couldn’t believe it. It could well be him. It would make sense after all these other sightings. It’s really exciting that this could actually be a picture of him caught on camera and the only one so far.”
According to the Mirror:
“Slender men have been a part of global folklore for centuries. They may be known by different names, but their harrowing, elongated appearance remains the same around the world. In Scotland the fiendish figure is known as Fear Dubh (The Dark Man), the Dutch dubbed him Takkenmann (Branch Man) and in Germany he is referred to as Der Grosse Man (Tall Man). Dressed in a black suit, the floating figure is tree-tall and capable of stretching limbs and torso like warm toffee.”
