Guy Fawkes life embodies the tenets of Anonymous. The failed plot to assassinate King James I over government restrictions was foiled by an anonymous letter outing the revolutionists. The leader, Guy Fawkes, was sentenced to death but ironically, escaped death by hanging when he fell from the scaffold and broke his neck. Thus, in the end, Fawkes escaped the long arm of the law.

Today Guy Fawkes is commemorated in the UK as Guy Fawkes Night complete with fireworks and burning of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire.
