The 1950’s were the heyday of McCarthyism and like many other forms of entertainment, comic books came to be viewed as a threat. The industry’s reaction to the threat would kick off an entirely new era – the Silver Age of Comics.
The Golden Age of Comics spans the years between 1938 and 1956, during which time comic books were first published and became overwhelmingly popular with readers. Many of today’s most popular superheroes were created during the Golden Age.
