DC FanDome update – here are the DC Extended Universe reveals and DC Movies for the next two years.

Wonder Woman 1984

What we will hear about DC movies at this year’s FanDome

With all the conventions cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, entertainment companies are shifting much of their activity to online virtual events. Comic-Con will hold its annual San Diego event at the end of July as an “at-home event” and DC will host an online event on August 22, 2020. DC’s event, FanDome, will be open to all and will cover DC movies, TV, comic books, and video games during the 24-hour event. Here are the movies that DC will market during the event.

Wonder Woman 1984

DC Movie - Wonder Woman 1984

Filming wrapped up for the DC movie, Wonder Woman 1984, on December 22, 2018 (with some additional filming in July 2019). Right now, Warner Bros. believes the Fall date for WW84 will hold so maybe we’ll finally get to see WW84 on October 2, 2020. We will likely see a new Wonder Woman trailer at FanDome and maybe get glimpses of Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Maxell Lord, and Chris Pine as the resurrected Steve Trevor.

Justice League (Snyder cut)

Justice League Snyder cut

Zack Snyder left production of Justice league after the death of his daughter, handing the reigns over to Joss Whedon. Justice League was a disappointment but after an outcry from fans, Snyder stepped back in to re-edit the movie and release his version of events. We know Synder is editing the movie so there’s a good chance we’ll sees a trailer at FanDome. But since movie production still has a ways to go, we likely won’t get a hard release date. Right now we’re looking at 2021 on HBO Max. The movie will be long so it could potentially be released as a TV mini-series.

The Suicide Squad (Suicide Squad 2)

The Suicide Squad

Filming for The Suicide Squad wrapped up on February 28, 2020, barely in time to avoid the coronavirus shutdowns. Still, the sequel to the smash-hit DC movie, Suicide Squad, is not expected until 2021 (August 6, 2021?). James Gunn is editing the movie during the coronavirus lockdowns so maybe we’ll get first-look images from the pic.

The Batman

The Batman

The reboot of the Batman film franchise will replace Ben Affleck with Robert Pattinson in the role of Batman. Matt Reeve’s The Batman is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. However, the movie was only four weeks into production when the coronavirus lockdowns were implemented. Right now The Batman is scheduled for release on October 1, 2021 (pushed back from June 25, 2021) but all we have seen is some test footage of Pattinson in his Batman costume. Zoe Kravitz will play Catwoman and Colin Farrell The Penguin. Maybe one or both will show up at FanDome.

Black Adam

Black Adam

Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) has not started production but The Rock says he will attend FanDome to promote the DC movie. Not much is known about the anti-hero’s plot nor where Shazam will come into play. The movie’s release date is not known yet either. Possibly we’ll glean some more insight at FanDome.

The Flash

The Flash

The Flash is finally coming to the big screen. Right now the release date is scheduled for 2022. Producers have already hinted that big news was coming soon. Possibly that Michael Keaton will join the cast as Batman? That something is announced at FanDome is a near certainty.

Shazam 2

Shazam 2

The Shazam 2 sequel has already been delayed once – to November 2022. Heck, we don’t even have a name for the movie yet much less the plot. Possibly we’ll get some casting announcements at FanDome.

Aquaman 2

Aquaman

Aquaman probably won’t start shooting until the middle of 2021 at the earliest. All we really know is that we’ll see Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Jason Momoa. Right now the release date is rumored to be December 16, 2022.
