Sony Pictures Entertainment, IMAX, and Mercedes-Benz announced today that RIDEVU, Sony’s in-car entertainment service, will soon make IMAX Enhanced® content from Sony Pictures’ library readily accessible in vehicles, starting with the latest generation of MBUX in Mercedes-Benz models summer. This service enhancement offers an immersive in-car entertainment experience, delivering the largest catalog of IMAX Enhanced movies from Sony Pictures’ library, such as ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and ‘Uncharted,’ from home to the car. IMAX Enhanced is the only way to experience IMAX’s signature picture and sound outside of a theater. RIDEVU provides select IMAX Enhanced films featuring IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio (EAR), IMAX’s proprietary DMR process, and DTS:X sound, available in multiple dubbed languages
SPE’s RIDEVU service is available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany. The service is fully integrated with select OEMs, with Mercedes-Benz being the first global automotive OEM. It provides access to thousands of movies for purchase, rental, or streaming. Designed specifically for vehicles, RIDEVU connects Sony Pictures’ films with advanced streaming technology, creating a unique in-car entertainment experience. With RIDEVU, consumers can enjoy hours of entertainment on built-in screens or on their iOS and Android devices. Users can utilize Screen Manager to easily control playback across all screens from the center screen and entertain passengers with either individual or shared viewing experiences on up to six screens. Content can be accessed by the driver (while parked), as well as by front and rear-seat passengers passengers.
