HOZO Hobby Knife Brings One-Press Blade Swaps to Portable Maker Kits

HOZO is taking aim at one of the most familiar tools in every modeler’s drawer with a new Hobby Knife designed to make precision work faster, safer, and easier to carry. The Hong Kong maker launched the tool on Kickstarter October 13, offering campaign pricing from $59.

The knife’s central feature is a spring-loaded, push-button blade-change system. Instead of twisting apart a handle or wrestling with a small collet, users press a button to release the blade and install another attachment. HOZO says the mechanism was inspired by the action of a retractable ballpoint pen, while the handle uses a magnetic stainless-steel collet to hold the selected tool.

Versatility is the other major selling point. The kit supports ten interchangeable options covering ordinary cutting, thicker materials, carving, grooving, sawing, and filing. The lineup includes standard and long blades, chisel and mini-chisel blades, curved and double-edge blades, U- and V-gouges, a saw, and a metal file. That range gives the tool a broader remit than the classic single-profile hobby knife, particularly for makers who move between paper, leather, wood, plastic, and model parts.

HOZO is also treating storage as part of the tool rather than an afterthought. Its portable case holds the blades and unfolds into a cutting station with an integrated mat, allowing users to set up a compact workspace away from a dedicated hobby bench. The company pitches the system toward 3D-print cleanup, scale modeling, Gundam and military kits, dioramas, cosplay props, jewelry, scrapbooking, and other detail-oriented projects.

The Hobby Knife fits HOZO’s broader effort to build specialized equipment for makers. The company’s existing NeoBlade uses ultrasonic vibration for controlled cutting and ships with multiple blade profiles, placing the new product in a lineup that favors modular attachments over one-purpose tools. The Kickstarter campaign is listed at $59 for its entry configuration, with other coverage reporting a $79 suggested retail price for the base set; delivery timing has varied between early reports, so prospective backers should consult the live campaign page for the latest reward and shipping information.
